Pastor Peyton is the founding and lead pastor of City Lights Church. He was born and raised in the city of Clinton and has always loved the people, places, and things of East Tennessee. His story of life change is often encouraging to those who haven't always lived a "perfect" life.
After dropping out of high school Peyton joined the U.S. Army after watching the movie 'BlackHawk Down' (crazy, right?!). It was at the end of his military career that his life began a downward spiral of destruction. After serving our country, at the age of 22 he became a heavy drug user. The snares of addiction held its grip on Peyton's life for many years until one life altering night on January 21st, 2009.
On that night he knew life was fading away and things were out of control. It was on that cold winter night that God began stirring something in him that would cause Peyton to never be the same. Within 6 months he was actively involved in volunteering with a local church and felt the desire to be in ministry. After discovering his purpose for life Peyton went on to pursue a higher education in 2010 at Clear Creek Bible College where he studied Leadership & Pastoral Ministries.
On August 29th, 2012, God placed a vision in Peyton's heart to become a church planter. By summer of 2013 a group of 5 people started meeting in his living room dreaming and praying about this vision. After 14 months of prayer, learning, and forming great partnerships, City Lights Church held its first public service on September 7, 2014.
Peyton is an authentic leader who loves to see lives changed. He is a gifted communicator with the ability to make God's Word relevant to the life-long Christian or even someone who is exploring their faith for the first time. His education and life experiences combined allow him to relate to all different types of people.
Peyton is married to his teenage sweetheart, Ariel. They have two children, Harper and Jude.
